Cash games • Hold’em and lowball
A Hall of Fame career that crosses very different poker hand-ranking systems.
Biography
Jennifer Harman is associated with high-level cash poker as well as tournament achievements. Her WSOP record includes titles in no-limit deuce-to-seven lowball in 2000 and limit hold’em in 2002. These are not two versions of the same decision problem.
In lowball, a hand that looks weak to a hold’em beginner can be exactly what a player wants. In limit hold’em, fixed bet sizes change the price of continuing and the way a player can apply pressure. Harman’s results make the rules themselves a natural starting point for learning about her career.
She was selected for the Poker Hall of Fame in 2015. The companion case examines the 2000 title as a format study, keeping the recorded achievement separate from any invented final-hand narrative. It gives beginners a practical reason to read a game’s ranking and betting rules before trying to follow an expert.
| Career milestone | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| 2000 | No-limit deuce-to-seven lowball bracelet. |
| 2002 | Limit hold’em bracelet. |
| 2015 | Poker Hall of Fame induction. |
The game behind the story
Start with poker formats and hand rules before comparing decisions across hold’em, Omaha or lowball. The format determines what a strong hand means and how betting works.
