CASINO101 • RESEARCH & EXPLANATION
Baccarat is mostly a bet-selection game. The dealing rules determine the cards; you do not choose whether to hit or stand as in blackjack.
What the totals mean
Aces count as one, 2–9 count at face value, and tens and picture cards count as zero. Only the last digit of the sum is used: 8 + 7 is 5. Player and Banker name the two hands, not the person playing or the casino dealer. The dealing and third-card rules determine how the hands finish.
Read the settlement table
Traditional Banker bets commonly pay even-money profit less commission; Player commonly pays even money. Tie and side bets have separate payouts. No-commission variants can replace commission with reduced payouts on specified Banker wins. The name “no commission” is not enough to calculate the cost.
| Check | Why |
|---|---|
| Banker commission or exception | Changes the return on a winning Banker wager |
| Tie payout | Different schedules have different mathematical costs |
| Side-bet definition | The trigger matters as much as the advertised prize |
| Deck and dealing rules | Identify the exact version before quoting odds |
Why patterns do not prove a prediction
A displayed road records past results. It does not by itself establish that the next result is predictable or that increasing a stake improves expectation. The player sees a selected sequence, not evidence that a tested predictive method works.

A historical case is not an online method
Phil Ivey’s profile distinguishes poker achievements from his baccarat dispute. The edge-sorting case study concerns unusual physical-card conditions, not ordinary knowledge of Banker or Player odds.
