Roulette La Partage: What Happens When Zero Wins?

CASINO101 • RESEARCH & EXPLANATION

The rule applies to qualifying even-money wagers, not every bet on the layout.

What to check

On a single-zero wheel, an even-money stake normally loses when zero lands. With la partage, half that qualifying stake is returned on zero. Confirm the exact rule in the table help: the French label on a lobby tile is not sufficient evidence.

A worked example

For a hypothetical €10 red bet, 18 pockets pay +€10, 18 lose €10 and zero loses €5 under la partage. The average net result is (180−180−5)/37 = −€0.1351 per €10 stake, approximately 1.35%. Without the half-loss rule the zero loss is €10, approximately 2.70%.

Keep these fields separate

Field Meaning
Even-money bets Ask whether red/black, odd/even and low/high qualify.
Straight-up numbers Do not apply the half-loss calculation to them.
En prison A different settlement rule: read its separate treatment of zero.

Use the result carefully

These examples explain the conditions and arithmetic. They are not reports of our own real-money testing, guarantees of an outcome, or reasons to increase a stake. Where a required field cannot be verified, record it as unconfirmed rather than choosing a favourable assumption.
