Slot Paytables: Coins, Total Stake and Win Multipliers

CASINO101 • RESEARCH & EXPLANATION

A displayed multiplier is only useful after identifying the stake unit it multiplies.

What to check

Read whether wins are expressed in coins, line stake or total stake. Also check the minimum symbol combination, paylines or ways, wild substitutions and whether a bonus round uses a different table. Treat the help screen as the specification; animation size is not a payout measure.

A worked example

In an invented 20-line game, a €1 total stake means €0.05 per line when equally divided. A 100-times line-stake win would pay €5; a 100-times total-stake win would pay €100. These are two different definitions, not two outcomes of one unspecified paytable. A €5 payout on a €1 spin has net profit €4 for that spin.

Keep these fields separate

Field Meaning
Unit Line stake, coin or total stake?
Stake change Does the displayed paytable update?
Return versus profit Subtract the wager when calculating net outcome.

Use the result carefully

These examples explain the conditions and arithmetic. They are not reports of our own real-money testing, guarantees of an outcome, or reasons to increase a stake. Where a required field cannot be verified, record it as unconfirmed rather than choosing a favourable assumption.
